An image of another open cluster, Messier 52, has been uploaded

Hi all,

An image of Messier 52, an open cluster located in Cassiopeia, has been uploaded. Even being a young cluster (35 Million years old) and full of bright and blue stars, the brightest one is an orange, F8Ib/II-Type star. You can see the image as well as more information at:

An image of PK 164+31, the Headphones Nebula, has been uploaded

Hi all,

An image of the very faint planetary nebula PK 164+31, also known as the Headphones Nebula, has been uploaded. The shape of this nebula has been influenced by the high velocity of the gases expelled as well as the rotation angle of the central star (by the way, it is a binary star). You can find the image and additional information at:

Jones Emberson 1. PK164+31.1. ARO 121

Enjoy,
Josep

An image of Cygnus X-1 and the Tulip Nebula have been uploaded

Hi all,

This time, the image that has been uploaded has a special scientific significance. This image shows the X-Ray source Cygnus X-1, which is a binary system, one of which is the first object proven to be a black hole. The image also shows Sh2-101, also known as the Tulip Nebula, due to its shape. You can find the image, as well as more information about the objects at:

Sh2-101. The Tulip Nebula. Cygnus X-1

Enjoy,
Josep
