An image of Messier 71, a small and loosely packed globular, has been uploaded

Hi all,

An image of the globular cluster Messier 71 has been uploaded. This cluster has been discussed as open or globular since it was classified as a cluster. After several switches, finally in the 1970’s it was classified as globular based upon photometry and the presence of a horizontal branch in the H-R diagram, typical of globulars. The image as well as some more info can be found at:

Messier 71. NGC 6838

Enjoy,
Josep

An image of Messier 29, an open cluster, has been uploaded

Hi all,

Continuing with the high resolution Messier Catalog, an image of Messier 29, an open cluster, has been uploaded. M29 belongs to the Cygnus OB1 association and therefore a significant part of its 50 stars belong to hot, bright, bluish, spectral class B0. You can find the image and some more info at:

Messier 29. NGC 6913

Enjoy,
Josep

An image of Messier 31, the Andromeda Galaxy, has been uploaded

Hi all,

I know that Messier 31 is a classic image. Probably, together with M42, one of the most imaged deep sky objects. This image has been the result of combining images from three telescopes, a 106 mm and a 150 mm refractors as well as a 24 inch reflector. The goal was to have a high resolution image of M31. You can find it at:

Messier 31 and satellites M32 and m110

Enjoy,
Josep
