IC 5148

IC 5148, also called the Spare Tire Nebula, is a small (2 arcmin) and faint planetary nebula in the constellation Grus. This nebula has beautiful colors that can be shown with narrowband images. Interesting is the presence of a very faint, but visible, halo around the nebula. This halo is visible in the larger image, but it is more clearly seen in the negative image above.
