The Statue of Liberty is a nickname that was introduced by Steve Mazlin in 2016. It is a fragment of NGC 3576, an emission nebula located in the constellation Carina. This image is the result of a reprocessing of a fragment of a previous image taken in 2016. I usually process the narrowband images by mapping the filters to natural color. This time I wanted to change that view and try the Hubble palette (SII: Red, Ha: Green, OIII: Blue). It turned out quite surprising, because the strong and differentiated emissions in the center of the nebula bring a new and appealing version. You can find some more information about the nebula and the previous image here and about a mosaic also grabbing NGC 3602 here.
