This emission nebula is part of a larger HII region, located just 1.5 degrees North of the Vela Supernova Remnant. The bright star in the middle of the nebula is HD 74804, a 9.26 magnitude star, spectral type B3/5II D. The brightest star in the field (lower right) is HD 75081, a 6.14 magnitude star, spectral type B9V C. In this region, three nebula types can be seen: emission (red) reflection (blue) and dark. This image was taken in narrowband (Halpha and OIII) as well as in RGB (in order to better show the reflection nebula).
