NGC 456 is an emission nebula located in the Small Magellanic Cloud, in the constellation Tucana. In fact, NGC 456 is the reddish-white nebula located very close to the center of this image. Just to its upper left, there is another similar (but smaller) nebula: NGC 460. This narrowband image has been processed coding Halpha to Red and OIII to both green and blue (white means broadband emission, as both filters get a similar image density). This image is quite deep, showing rarely seen details, especially of the faint nebulosity to the upper left if NGC 456 and the HII patch at its right.
